At approximately 4:00 PM Lynchburg Fire Department and Liberty University Police Department were dispatched to the dining hall at Liberty University for a cardboard compactor on fire with flames showing. Units arrived to find workers with fire extinguishers attempting to extinguisher the fire. The decision was made to pull the container away from the building to a safe location and dump the contents so they could be extinguished. Crews operated for around and an hour, the compactor suffered heavy damage.
