The Bergton Volunteer Fire Department, located in Rockingham County, has recently taken delivery of a new “Attack” unit built by M&W.
Attack 55 is a 2008 Ford F550/M&W complete with a 750 gallon per minute pump and carries 300 gallons of water. A booster reel is located in the rear compartment and Attack 55 carries a 24’ and 12’ ladder.
Attack 55 is a new addition to the apparatus roster at Bergton. Watch for a future article with photographs of the apparatus roster at Bergton.
My thanks to the Bergton VFD for making arrangements for photographs of the new Attack 55.

gotta say Mike, I think you're shots are some of the best in the business, keep up the good work
job well done!
A sharp appartus, but I would like to start the discussion as to the advantages of this type of vehicle over a typical style engine/pumper. Size? – yes it is smaller and able to reach tighter spots btu how often is that a problem. $$$ – given they are cheaper, but is the long term cost beneficial? Will this vehicle last 20 years the typical life of a Class A engine. How is this type vehicle used in the response order? If it”s first out what is the rationale? Is it really faster to the scene?
