Located just outside of Weyers Cave, Virginia and not far off I81 is the Shenandoah Valley Regional Airport that provides airport services for Augusta County, Harrisonburg, Rockingham County, Staunton, and Waynesboro. The airport has its own fire department and is known as Station 22 in Augusta County.
There are two crash trucks assigned to the airport. Crash 22-4 is a unique 2002 Emergency One Titan HPR equipped with a 1250 gallon per minute pump, 1500 gallons of water, and 205 gallons of foam. It also has a 50’ Snozzle which can pierce aircraft bodies and has a camera attached to the device. Crash 22-4 also carries hard suction hose for drafting.
Crash 22-5 is a 1988 Oshkosh T1500 equipped with a 1250 gallon per minute pump, 1500 gallons of water, and 205 gallons of foam. Both crash trucks were purchased new by the airport.
The fire station is located close to the main terminal and is staffed by workers of the airport that are trained in firefighting.
