DALLAS (AP) – An ambulance worker is the type of person you need to be able to trust, in a situation in which you are most vulnerable.
But an Associated Press investigation finds that a few EMTs have taken advantage of the position to commit sex offenses, including in Virginia.
Over the past 18 months, at least 129 ambulance attendants nationwide have been accused of sex-related crimes – some while on duty.
State health officials in 23 states report receiving sex-related complaints involving EMS workers. New York reported the most complaints – 17. Texas reported 13 complaints, Massachusetts 11 and Virginia 10.
