Shortly after finishing our traditional Thanksgiving dinner in the fire house, Rescue Engine 6, Ambulance 6, Medic 15, Command 6, and Engine 23 from Ashburn responded to an automobile accident with reported entrapment.

The scene, upon arrival, revealed a multi-car accident at a major intersection. The driver of the vehicle with the most significant damage had fled the scene and the passenger appeared to have significant injuries and was still trapped inside the vehicle.

The crews from Ambulance 6 quickly began to assess the patient as the crew from Rescue Engine 6 made quick work freeing the patient from the vehicle. Extrication was performed in less than 13 minutes once the first arriving units were on-scene.

Engine 23 quickly sealed off the intersection and established a landing zone for the Air Care helicopter. After a short time stabilizing the patient, he was transported via Air Care 3 to the local trauma unit.
