Photos submitted by Lt. Daniel Goodwin

On Sunday, Roanoke’s Firefighters were dispatched to the wrong address for a house fire. Several calls came in for a house fire on Mountain View Terrace however firefighters were sent to Mount Vernon Road. Once on scene and reporting no such numerical address on Mount Vernon matching the dispatch they were quickly rerouted. Dispatchers realized the error and sent the correct address.

The arrival time was 10 minutes, which is not common in Roanoke. Despite the delayed arrival, Firefighters made quick work of the fire which was located in the attic. Currently there is an internal investigation in the 911 center.

The fire has been ruled accidental cause by an electrical short.
