PRINCE GEORGE, VA (NBC12) – We are learning more about a hunter who accidentally shot and killed himself over the weekend in Prince George County.

Frank Donnie Marsee, Jr., wasn’t just a retired Chesterfield firefighter. He was a mentor to many still working in the department.

The only word describe the feeling of the Chesterfield Fire Department today is heart broken. Even though Marsee retired in 2005 he still touched nearly all 500 firefighters who are still there today.

For the Chesterfield Fire Department, losing Marsee Saturday was like losing a member of their family.

Those of us at the Midlothian Volunteer Fire Department who knew Frank, and most recently, his son Paul who worked with us for a while on E-5C are truly saddened by this most unfortunate event. Our prayers go out to the family and we stand ready to assist in any way we can.
