4 Alarm Fire In Fairfax County 18 Box

On Monday January 19th at 22:45hrs Fairfax County PSCC dispatched a commercial structure fire assignment in Box area 18 (Jefferson), consisting of Engine Companies 418, 430, 413 & 408, Tower Ladders 430 & 408, Rescue Company 418, Medic 418, Battalion Chiefs 404 & 402, EMS Captains 404 & 402. Units arrived to find heavy fire and smoke conditions throughout a large grocery store. A partial collapse of the roof occurred, and Command officers ordered a defensive operation. The fire would eventually go to 4 Alarms, summoning over 120 Firefighters to the scene. The building, located at 8100 Arlington Boulevard, sustained heavy fire, smoke and water damage throughout the structure. Damage was estimated at approximately $4.5 Million.

22:53 3rd Alarm: Engine Companies 428, 402 & 429, Truck Company 410, Rescue Company 414, EMS 403 & Battalion 403

23:36 4th Alarm: Engine Companies 414, 413Bravo (volunteer staffed) & 426, Truck Company 425, EMS408 & Battalion 405
In addition to suppression units numerous canteen units also responded, as did the county’s Mobile Command Center.”
