WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) — The planning process began last June and the last minute touches are being added in the final countdown to Inauguration Day. At a firehouse in Chinatown on Thursday, DC Fire & EMS Department officials and representatives from various agencies went over how they will dispatch and handle emergency medical calls on January 20th.
DC’s 911 center will route calls for the Mall area, parade route and around the U.S. Capitol to dispatchers at the temporary dispatch center inside the quarters of Engine 2. Those dispatchers, along with fire and EMS workers will coordinate with the 40 aid stations set up in tents around the Inaugural events. There are also 100 ambulances and medic units available for transporting patients to area hospitals.
