Ice pinged,bounced and melted into cold rain as it covered windshields and struck vehicles in the village of Matoaca in Chesterfield.
It was Jan. 2 and friends,family and retired Lt. Frank Marsee’s firefighter family gathered to pay their respects.
Ettrick Truck 12 spread its ladder arm in the biting cold and proudly held the flag aloft.
It was standing room only for the service as over a 1,000 plus people attended.
Speakers included Reverend Rick Bucher(Chesterfield Fire Dept Division Commander) and Reverend Jason Elmore (Chesterfield Fire Dept Lt.).Amazing Grace was performed by Jim Burton.Marsee’s sons addressed the attendees.
Chesterfield County Police and Motorist Assistance provided traffic control.
After the service a meal was served at the church for the attendees.
Amelia,Colonial-Heights,Henrico and Richmond assisted Chesterfield with station coverage so department members could attend the service.Chesterfield Volunteers also assisted with fill-ins.
