Thank you for clearing the story up Firefleitz, and to Bob O sorry for getting on your case, I just recently met Justin this past year on a visit to his firehouse, and found that we were actually related. I was out of line and it hit close to me personally, so I took my frustrations out online. Sorry

In defense of Bob O, I understand his sentiments. In the beginning, we reported that it MIGHT be an LODD. That is from the reports we had gotten. We reported on the reports and at the time there had not been anything in the mainstream media. Instead of posting several posts on this incident, we merely changed the original post as new information was received. We were not trying to sway the report one way or another, nor were we trying to get the incident any more interest by doing so. As of this point, we still have not any confirmation on whether he was responding, although we have had newer "reports" that it was not the case.

The fact remains that one of Virginia's Bravest is gone and we are trying to do our part in respecting him as a Firefighter as well as disseminate the information to other firefighters in Virginia and across the Nation.

I was not belittling the death, the headline and text has changed repeatably.
At first it was made to appear as a LODD which is much different.
It gets everybody across the country's attention, remember him as you may but a LODD deserves special recognition and you just can not make those up! They should be confirmed as such not made up!
I can find nothing anywhere to suggest this was a LODD, nor can I find the "Earlier reports" cited.

And No you should not call every FF death a LODD and change later....

My very sincere condolences to family, friends and coworkers...It is still a tragedy and the young man looks so much like my 20 year old FF/EMT son. It was a strike close to home for me...

As a friend of the deceased and a firefighter in Southwest Va may I say that Bob O, for you belittleing this matter is BS. LODD or not I believe that we should remember him as a firefighter and a rescue squad member. LODD status can always be changed. So I guess what I am saying, keep your negative attitude out of it and let us grieve for our friend.
