TOANO, Va – Four firefighters were hospitalized Sunday night for injuries they suffered while fighting the fire inside a plating factory in James City County.
The fire lead to a hazardous materials situation at the Greystone plant off Richmond Road in Toano.
It appears a heater inside the plant caught some plastic on fire. When the sprinkler system when off, water from the sprinklers got into two 120-gallon vats of Chromic acid. The acid then overflowed onto the floor causing toxic fumes.
