Strong Winds Prompt Brush Fire Outbreak

Strong winds and dry conditions sparked a number of dangerous brush fires across Central Virginia Thursday.

Around 1 p.m., several large brush fires were being reported across Chesterfield County. Nash Road near Beach Road was closed as crews battled an eight-acre blaze, and a fast moving fire was being reported in the 10600 block of Spring Run Road.

More crews were called to a fire near the intersection of Harrowgate and Beechwood Roads. Another was reported on Claypoint Road.
