FRONT ROYAL — The Linden Volunteer Fire Company will continue its emergency medical services operations under Warren County’s Department of Fire and Rescue rather than its own agency license, the Board of Supervisors ruled earlier this month.
The supervisors unanimously approved a request to have the company continue operations under the county’s EMS Agency License No. 943. The request was the result of recent discussions with officials at the station on John Marshall Highway regarding their struggles to manage EMS operations on a regular basis, Fire and Rescue Chief Richard E. Mabie said.
Linden Fire Chief Robert Pye said the company has only 10 active responders. Other volunteer stations and county career staff have been pitching in and helping the station with answering its emergency calls. By remaining under the county’s agency license, officials can help the Linden station five days a week with such duties as checking and standardizing equipment and recordkeeping.
