Fourteen people were forced from their homes today after a two alarm fire spread through the Pines of Green Run apartments on Lynnhaven Parkway, an official said.

The fire was the third in nine days to damage the complex, and a preliminary investigation indicated that an electrical issue may have caused today’s fire, said Battalion Chief Tim Riley, a department spokesman. The first fire also appeared to be caused by an electrical malfunction, he said.

Firefighters responded about 2:40 p.m. to the blaze, along Lynnhaven Parkway near Holland Road, and brought the flames under control within about 20 minutes, Riley said. Seven of 14 displaced residents were home when the fire broke out, but all escaped, he said. One was treated at the scene for minor injuries, Riley said.

The fire damaged four apartments; a fifth was damaged by heat, Riley said.
