Amherst County, VA – It was firefighters who happened to stumble upon a missing Michigan hiker Saturday afternoon. Now Ken Knight, who is legally blind, is out of the hospital and doing well. And rescue workers say Knight’s hiking experience helped him along the Appalachian Trail. Running into missing hiker Ken Knight was a thrilling surprise for Big Island firefighters. Lt. Brandon Cocke, Big Island Volunteer Fire Department – “Some of the guys in Bedford Fire Department were picking on me that I was too excited on the radio.”
