Stafford Virginia – On Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at approximately 7:45 a.m., Stafford County Fire and Rescue units were dispatched to a reported fire in a commercial building. First arriving units reported smoke visible from the rear of a 4-story hotel, the Wingate Inn, located at 15 Salisbury Drive in the Aquia area of the county. A second alarm was requested. Firefighters assisted with evacuating the building, and located the fire in a laundry room. The fire was rapidly extinguished, containing it to the area of origin.
There were no civilian or fire and rescue injuries reported during the incident.
Fire investigators list the cause as accidental, malfunctioning appliance. Damages are estimated at $15,000.00
