Stafford County House Fire

Stafford Virginia – Stafford County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a reported residential structure fire at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13, 2009. First arriving units reported fire visible from the rear of the 1 ½ story occupancy, located at 1304 Westview Drive in the Falmouth/ White Oak area of the county. Firefighters mounted an aggressive attack and controlled the blaze in approximately 15 minutes. Damage to the home is extensive, additional damage was minimized on an exposed structure by firefighting efforts.
There were no occupants home at the time of the incident. The two residents of the home have been displaced. The Red Cross has been contacted to assist.
One firefighter received non life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital, and has subsequently been released.
Fire investigators determined the cause to be accidental, improper disposal of smoking materials. Damage estimates are set at $100,000.00.
