Another Stafford County House Fire In Falmouth

Editor’s Note: I missed this story in the queue back in May so here it is now!

By Chris Smith

At 13:30 hours a box alarm was transmitted for the house on fire at 1304 Westview Drive in Falmouth. Within minutes Engine and Rescue 1 were pulling in the block to find a single story wood frame with fire showing from Side “Charlie”. Rescue 1 forced entry into the front door while Engine 1 advanced an 1 3/4″ attackline through the front door and began an aggressive attack on the well involved floor. BC-1 arrived and established the “Westview Drive Command”. The crew from Rescue 1 completed the searches with negative results and started truck duties so the engine could extinguish the fire that started running in the attic. Quint 12 arrived to cut a hole in the roof to help ventilate the structure. Crews knocked down this fire in about 20 minutes. Engine and Truck 2 assisted Falmouth units in completing the overhaul. Engine 9 was assigned the R.I.T. duties. During the fire fight, the lineman from Engine 1 sustained minor burns to the upper body and was later transported to Mary Washington Hospital. He was treated and released. This was the second working fire in 24 hours in Stafford County. Units were returned to service in two hours.
