Charlottesville Fire Rescue Training

Firefighters from around the area pulled together Thursday to help rescue a man high above a construction site. The situation may have been a drill but for first responders, it was valuable hands on training.

The Charlottesville Fire Department and other rescue crews spent hours practicing technical rescues at the new Martha Jefferson Hospital construction site Thursday. A dummy was placed on one of the unfinished floors and crews went in for the rescue.

    It would have been even better if the local volunteers who run that area and the others that staff the only continuously in service ladder truck in the county would have been invited to attend the training. Especially considering the training was held in the county by a city department. But i guess those involved in the planning are trying to expand their sandbox.

    to localguy perhaps you should contact your paid training officer with your PAID county dept. since they are the ones who were first contacted and started the process of this whole training scenio, then dumped into the laps of the dept.you accuse of trying to expand their sandbox.
