Stafford, VA – On Friday, June 19, 2009 at approximately 5:00 a.m., Stafford County Fire and Rescue
Department units responded to a reported fire in a commercial building. The one-story structure, an
automotive dealer/service center, is located at 3799 Jefferson Davis Highway in the Griffis-Widewater
District in northern Stafford.
First arriving units reported smoke visible from the structure upon arrival. Firefighters located several
small fires in the building and rapidly extinguished them, minimizing damage to the structure. One
firefighter received a hand injury and was transported to a medical facility for treatment. He has since
been released from the hospital. There were no additional injuries reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by Stafford County Fire Marshals. Damage estimates are set
at $50,000.00.
