On June 28 at approx. 2100 hrs. Halifax Vol. Fire Dept. was dispatched to the NAPA Auto Parts Store in the Town of Halifax for smoke coming from the rear of the building. As police units arrived and advised fire was evident from the roof of the structure, South Boston Fire Dept. was added to the run. Upon arrival of Halifax’s first engine, a blitz attack was made on the fire, and South Bostons engine made a reverse lay to establish a water supply. An interior attack was initiated, but with no head way being made, the decision was made to pull everyone out and start a defensive attack on the fire. A ladder pipe, deckgun, and multiple handlines were then put into operation on the outside of the structure. All units cleared about 3 am., and an investigator from Richmond was called in to investigate. Depts. that responded: Halifax, South Boston, Triangle, and Liberty.
