Around 17:30 on July 15 2009 The Moneta Volunteer Fire Department, Moneta Rescue , Huddleston Rescue and EMS Supervisor RS 2 were dispatched for a Motor Vehicle Accident on Moneta Road with two vehicles with major fluid leaks and serious entrapment. Rescue 8 was first to arrive to find two vehicles with heavy damage after a head on collision. One driver was heavily entrapped while the other was unconscious Rescue 8′s crew went to work on the entrapment with an extrication that lasted approximately hour and a half. Bedford Fire Department responded Wagon 1 to set up an LZ for Virginia State Police and then assisted with extrication. A total of 3 patients were transported to Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Companies assigned were Moneta Fire, Bedford Fire, Moneta Rescue, Huddleston Rescue, Bedford Life Saving Crew, Chamlissburg Rescue, Bedford County Fire and Rescue RS2 and Virginia State Police Medflight 3
