Asst Chief Lexington Fire
At 12:40 July 17 the City of Lexington Fire Department was dispatched to interstate 81 south at mile marker 195 for a motor vehicle accident involving a pickup truck pulling a camper. Asst chief Swink arrived on scene to find the pickup truck setting on it wheels and the camper on its side. Chief Swink established command and found two five pound LP gas tanks on the front of the trailer leaking. Medic Engine 92 arrived on scene and stretched the front bumper attack line. 92′s crew quickly advanced on the LP gas tanks and stopped the leak. Lexington medic 17 handled patient care nobody was transported to the hospital. Traffic was backed up for 12 miles. Other units assisting on the scene support 9 Engine 71 from South River and Trauma 76 from Fairfield.
