MAKER, Harvey Bruce, 81, of Chester, Va., went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, July 7, 2009. He was born in Newport News, Va., son of the late LeRoy and Annie Jenkins Maker. Mr. Maker retired as a Captain from the City of Richmond Fire Department after 30 years of service. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. Mr. Maker was an active bodybuilder who won the titles of “Mr. Richmond” and “Mr. Norfolk” in the 1950s. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ann M. Maker; daughters, Jessie A. and Hope M. Maker, both of Richmond, Va.; grandchildren, Melanie, Dawn and Joya; great-granddaughter, Emma Grace; sister, Hope Farrell of Tucson, Ariz.; and brothers, Cecil M. Maker of Dundas, Va. and LeRoy Maker III and wife, Audrey, of Chesterfield, Va. A graveside service will take place on Friday, July 10, 2009 at 1 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park, Chester.
