Hampton Roads pauses to remember victims of 9/11

RICHMOND (AP) — Gov. Tim Kaine proclaimed Sept. 11 as a day of service and remembrance in Virginia.

Kaine urged citizens to find a way to honor the lives lost in New York, at the Pentagon and aboard United Flight 93 that crashed in Pennsylvania in 2001 through volunteer work in their communities.

Friday also marks the end of the summer phase of the national United We Serve initiative.
