Just hours before the start of the annual Montross Fall Festival, the Westmoreland VFD was dispatched for a single vehicle accident on Rt. 3. Within minutes Engine 22, Utility 2, and Response 2 were enroute. Engine 22 arrived on scene and advised one vehicle in the woods with heavy damage. Crews quickly stabilized the vehicle. A lengthy extrication followed due to the position of the patient. Crews removed the roof and the back of the seat. The patient was removed through the roof. Firefighters assisted Montross VRS with packaging and loading the patient. While enroute to the hospital the patient was flown out from King George County. Engine Co. 2′s units cleared from the scene minutes before the start of the parade.
