At approximately 10:45 p.m. Friday night, members of the Mathias-Baker Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene of a one story house fire in the 9300 block of US Rt.259 near Mathias.According to reports, Sgt. D.N. Bishoff with the Hardy County Sheriff’s Office was the first to arrive.Sgt. Bishoff, along with a neighbor attempted to gain access to the bedroom area of the home and were unsuccessful.Fire units from Mathias-Baker, Bergton VA, Capon Valley, and North River Fire Department arrived on scene andbegan a search of the home.
