NASSAWADOX — A massive fire early Tuesday morning destroyed the Captain’s Deck, a popular restaurant here owned by Shellie and Nuri Onal.

No one was in the building at the time of the blaze. Two firefighters were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and returned to service, but no other injuries were reported.

Eastville Fire and Rescue Chief David Eder said the fire had already broken through the roof when he arrived.
