The Board of Supervisors approved a Conditional Use Permit to allow construction of the new Black Creek fire station.
Black Creek would be the third of three new fire stations that the majority of voters supported in the 2005 bond referendum. New stations at Ashland and Farrington opened earlier this year, replacing the original buildings.
The new Black Creek station would also replace the current facility and would triple its size. The acreage of the property would increase from about two to six, and the square footage of the structure would increase from 3,400 to 10,000.
The new structure would include three apparatus bays and living quarters for up to 12 station personnel. The planned location is along McClellan Road, about 1,000 feet north of its intersection with Rockhill Road in the Cold Harbor District.
