Newport News firefighters in Haiti OK from aftershock, helping with rescue – dailypress.com

The six city firefighters who are part of an 83-member search and rescue team working in Haiti are safe after the magnitude-6.1 aftershock this morning.

None of the rescuers with Virginia Task Force 2 suffered injuries from the aftershock.

“All team personnel are okay and sustained no injuries,” the Web site reported this morning.

The Virginia Beach-based task force, which reports to FEMA, includes firefighters from Newport News, York and James City counties and Southside communities, as well as doctors, engineers and dog handlers.
