Wytheville Fire Department responds to structure fire at 3536 West Lee Hwy at 1:45pm on February 11th, 2010. When units arrived on scene, Heavy flames coming from basement area. No one was at home at the start of the fire. Captain Widner and Chief King did try to resuscitate a small dog but were unsuccessful. Two dogs did loose their life in the fire. The fire apparently started in the flu and spread throughout the residence. Rural Retreat Fire Department, Wythe County Rescue, Rural Retreat Emergency Sevices and Wythe County Sheriff all assisted. No reported Fire Fighter injuries. Crews were on scene for Approx. 4hrs.
