Vehicle crashes into Chesterfield home

By Becky Robinette Wright
Tones sounded the alarm and Engine 17 along with Medic 17 and county police were dispatched to the 5400 block of Aberdare Drive on March 15 around 3 p.m. for a MVA.
An off-duty firefighter who was in the area, heard the crash and responded to the scene, arriving first. He did initial patient assessment and relayed information to dispatch, who sent the needed resources.
Crews arriving on scene found a pickup truck that had collided with a car and crashed into a home, knocking down a porch railing, breaking a window of the home and knocking down some supports.
Medics provided aid to a victim who was injured and transported them to a local hospital. A building inspector from the county did an inspection of the structure.
Crews removed debris from the scene and a wrecker lifted the truck up and turned it around so it could be removed from the scene. It was a painstaking operation that had to be done in slow steps.
The name of the firefighter has not been released.
The accident is under investigation. Police have not said if charges will be filed.
