Two-Alarm Portsmouth shopping center Fire

PORTSMOUTH

The fire department will need to knock down the rear wall of a shopping center that burned Monday night to determine what caused the fire, an official said.

A crew from a company has arrived at the heavily damaged center, in the 3500 block of Towne Point Road, to start the work, fire Capt. Paul Hoyle said.

Because the building is unsafe and its roof collapsed, investigators have not yet been able to go inside to start an investigation.
