Ground Breaking Ceremony for Moorefield Fire Station

The Loudoun County Fire-Rescue system is pleased to announce the official groundbreaking ceremony for Moorefield Fire Station 23. On Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. members of the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors and the Loudoun County Fire-Rescue system will come together to celebrate the commencement of a new state-of-the-art fire station.

“This is an exciting time for our Department, as well as the community directly served,” stated Chief of the Department Joseph Pozzo. “The men and women of this Department are looking forward to moving into a permanent home that allows them to continue providing top notch emergency services.”

The new fire station site is located on approximately 4 acres of land proffered from the Claude Moore Foundation.

The site of the planned facility is located at 43495 Old Ryan Road and will be home to an engine company, a basic-life support ambulance, an advanced-life support ambulance and a Battalion Chief. The personnel assigned to Station 23 are career members of the Loudoun County Fire-Rescue system and provide emergency services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Station 23 has been providing emergency services out of leased warehouse space on Red Rum Drive for over five years. Notice of Award was given to Callas Construction in December 2009. Construction of the facility is expected to be completed by early Spring 2011.

The public and members of the media are encouraged to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for Fire Station 23.

A rain date of May 14, 2010 has been scheduled in the event of cancellation due to inclement weather.
