A Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office Deputy was killed in the line of duty in a boating accident on Saturday.Police say Deputy Dean Ridings and Deputy William E. Schroeder were on marine patrol on Lake Anna when the accident happened around 12:40 P.M. Deputy Schroeder was operating the Sheriff's Office 19 foot Invader outboard boat when the accident happened. Deputy Schroeder was thrown overboard and was rescued by citizen boaters. He returned to the boat and found that Deputy Riding was injured.
