On June 3 at 1647 hours Richmond Communications was alerted of a house fire in the 3100 block of Walmsley Blvd. Q-22, Q-21, Q-23, Q-17, R-3, Safety 2, BC-3, Chesterfield Engine 3 were dispatched. Q-22 arrived on scene with heavy smoke showing from a Cape Cod style home. Q-22 and Q-21 personnel entered into the house and found heavy fire in the attic area. Q-22 was assigned fire attack as Q-21 performed Truck Company Operations. Q-23 assisted with fire attack as Q-17 was assigned to the Rapid Intervention Team. R-3 performed a search of the residence that proved negative. Chesterfield Engine 3 performed Truck Company Operations on Division 2. Chesterfield Battalion 3 assumed the Operations role on the C side of the structure and reported a heavy amount of fire still on the C side of the house.
Once the working fire was declared Q-20, Q-6, Air Light 11 and BC 1 was added to the assignment. Q-20 provided relief for Q-22 and Q-6 relieved other companies on scene as they went to rehab. The fire was brought under control at 1731 hours. The fire investigation team is investigating.
