At 12:47 on August 13, 2010 Quint 12 witnessed an accident in which a pickup truck struck the rear
of a tractor trailer. The driver of the pickup was unresponsive and trapped in his vehicle. Quint 12′s
personnel began patient care and setup for the extrication. Battalion Chief 1 established command
while personnel from Engine 1, Rescue Squad 1 and Quint 12 completed the extrication. The patient
was transported by Medic 6 to the local hospital. In addition to the driver, the vehicle was occupied
by three canines who were turned over to animal control.
