New chief of Norfolk Fire-Rescue finally sworn in

Described as calm, fair and well-liked within his department, Jeffrey F. Wise was sworn in Friday morning as the new chief of Norfolk Fire-Rescue.

Wise has been with Fire-Rescue for 32 years. City Manager Regina V.K. Williams administered the oath of office at Fire Station 1 on St. Paul’s Boulevard as Wise’s family, city leaders and firefighters stood by.

Wise will maintain traditions of Norfolk Fire-Rescue, including its goal of providing “equal service to all, regardless of situation or circumstance,” he said.
