It is with great sadness that the Sterling Volunteer Fire Company announces the passing of Life Member Alan “Big Al” Dutton.

On Tuesday, December 14th family, friends, and firefighters from around the area paid their final respects to Battalion Chief Alan W. Dutton of the District of Columbia Fire Department. Dutton also served with the Sterling Volunteer Fire Company and Aldie Volunteer Fire Departments in Loudoun County, Virginia. He was a “fireman’s fireman”. He will be missed greatly, but his legacy will live on for those that knew him, or knew of him.
