Working Morning House Fire Mon. Apr 25th 2011 – Goldvein Volunteer Fire Department
This incident is also covered here
At 7:30 AM the call was received for a residential fire in box area 0801. The Tanker and Chief from Goldvein responded, and immediately noticed a column of smoke visible from miles away. Upon arrival Tanker 8 layed a supply line and advanced a 1 3/4″ handline to the front while the Chief established command. After completing a lap of the single story home, fire was found on all sides. The front door was forced and the crew made entry to find the entire attic well off. Progress was made, however Tanker 8′s crew was forced to evacuate due to a roof collapse in the rear of the home. Engines 13, Stafford Engine 6, Engine 2, and Engine 7 advanced two additional 1 3/4″
handlines and a 2 1/2″ line to the rear where the bulk of the fire remained while Tanker 8 continued to extinguish the remaining fire on side (A). Battalion Chief 2 arrived and assumed command from Chief 8. Wagon 1 established a fill site while Engines 13 and 6 maintained the dump site. Once the fire was knocked, crews again made entry, extinguished the remaining fire, and completed overhaul. The fire was extinguished in 30 minutes, and extensive overhaul operations were completed in just over 3.5 hours.
Units from Goldvein, Hartwood, Lois, Remington, Catlett, Warrenton, New Baltimore, and Brandy Station assisted on the incident.
