Roanoke Fire-EMS Department Press Release:

Parts of Washington County, VA were devestated by yesterday’s powerful tornados. A request from the State on behalf of Washington County has been submitted to the Division 6 Heavy Technical Rescue Team. 17 firefighters will deploy this afternoon, April 28, 2011 at approximately 2:30 pm from the Roanoke Valley Regional Fire-EMS Training Center on Kesler Mill Rd. in Salem. 6 firefighters from Roanoke Fire-EMS, 6 firefighters from Roanoke County Fire & Rescue and 5 firefighters from Salem Fire-EMS will be enroute to Glade Springs, VA to assist in the cleanup and rescue efforts.
