A recent article on Fredericksburg.com recaps some of the problems that have plagued the Chancellor Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department including one incident at the Spotsylvania Volunteer Fire Department.
Recently, VAFireNews.com ran a story on the latest of the two incidents here.
The article on Fredericksburg.com starts like this:
THE PHONE NUMBER for Chancellor Volunteer Fire and Rescue listed on its website is 540/548-HERO. Alas, that’s not quite the word that comes to mind after a series of volunteer incidents involving sexual misconduct.
Later it states:
Part of the fault lies with Spotsylvania County, which has simply undermanaged the volunteers. To be fair, that is changing. After a tragedy-spurred fire-and-rescue review last year exposed serious flaws in the system, the county has now conveyed oversight authority of the volunteers to the county fire chief.
The VAFireNews.com webteam would like to note that we believe in the judiciary system and that all parties are innocent until proven guilty. That being said, we hope that the Chancellor Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department is able to land on its feet and reform their policies and procedures to reinstate their trust with the community.
