Culpeper Firefighters Battle House Fire on Fairfax Street

On the morning of Thursday, May 2, 2011, Culpeper County Fire and Rescue responded to a reported structure fire on Fairfax St. cross street of Wine St. Around 11:00 a.m. Units marked on the scene of the two story wood frame structure with fire showing on the 2nd floor. Firefighters encountered heavy fire conditions on the second floor and attic. Due to an aggressive interior attack, the fire was knocked down quickly. The units did an oustanding job of fire surpression, as there were many trees and an apartment building in close proximity of the fire building. As firefighters were mopping up, Culpeper sounded another alarm for a reported structure fire On Burgundine St. Chief 2 arrived on the scene of that call and assesed the situation and determined the fire was out and put reponding units in service. Working units included Co-1(culpeper), Co-2 (Brandy Station), Co-8 (Salem), Co-9 (Little Fork), Co-16 (Reva), Culpeper Rescue Squad, and Police. Mutual aid from Fauquier Co-11 (Orlean) Units cleared the scene of the first fire around 1:00 p.m.
