The photo attached is from 1968-69 when he was a firefighter assigned to the Flying Squad. That was a manpower company running with 7 to 8 members everyday!! It was disbanded back in 1981.

Tom retired as a Lieutenant. He had been a Chief Aide (Lt) and then a Lieutenant at Truck 7.

MANNING, Tom Brown, age 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 4, 2012 at St. Patrick’s Manor in Framingham, Mass. He was born on November 21, 1926 in Windsor, North Carolina, son of the late James Raleigh and Alice Manning and spent most of his adult life in Richmond, Virginia, where he retired in 1976, as a Lieutenant in the Richmond Fire Department. He is predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Mary Margie Manning; his son, Tom Manning; his daughter, Cindy Thomas; his brothers and sisters, James, George, Strelsa, Leyta Faye, and Viola. He is survived by his daughter, Linda Gloski and her husband, Joseph; five grandchildren, Rebecca, Brianne, Brian, Joe and Amanda; and two great-grandchildren, Jordan and Ryan. He also leaves his special friend, Sherry Lupien. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Homes- Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Road, where the family will receive friends on Friday, March 9, 2012 from 10 am to 12 noon, followed immediately by the funeral, with interment to follow at Washington Memorial Park. I have attached the death notice and arrangement for Tom Manning.
He was a good fireman and Officer.
