It’s with a heavy heart that VAFireNews.com reports the death of Knotts Island (NC) Volunteer Fire Department Chief Scott Morrison.
From The Virginian Pilot:
Scott Morrison, fire chief for Knotts Island Volunteer Fire Department, was responding to a brush fire when he went into cardiac arrest, county spokesman Randall Edwards said. Emergency personnel treated Morrison on scene and took him to a hospital, but he died about 5:30 p.m.
Knott’s Island is a place that many of you may have never heard of. It’s a small waterfront community in Currituck County, NC. It’s located immediately south of the Virginia line, and assistance to KI often comes from the Virginia Beach Fire Department, as they are the geographically closest department to many of the KIVFD’s mutual aid calls.
On a more personal note, Scott was a long-time fire service friend of mine, as well as an awesome father and husband. Scott often sought my opinions and thoughts on how to specify the new pumper they have on order, and was quick to pass along a fire service gift when we saw one another. Like Rhett and Willie, Scott epitomized the brotherhood, and his friendship will be sorely missed.
