Virginia Fallen Firefighter/EMT Line of Duty Death Memorial

Each year, Virginia hosts a Fallen Firefighter Memorial in Richmond to honor those Firefighters who have given their lives in the Line of Duty. The Memorial Service is attended by Firefighters across the State with many Honor Guards and Color Guards from various Departments. Their honor is preserved by the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, United States Fire Administration, and International Association of Fire Fighters.

The National EMS Memorial Service (NEMSMS) honors those EMT's of all levels who have died in the Line of Duty. The organization holds a National service each year in Roanoke, Virginia to honor those who have died.

The various organizations have criteria which dictates a LODD. VAFireNews.com views an LODD as being bestowed on an individual by any and all of these organizations.
