APARTMENT FIRE IN CHESTERFIELD COUNTY

TACTICAL SAFETY OFFICER-A SHIFT
Chesterfield Fire and EMS responded to an apartment fire on Monday August 7, 2006 at 4062 Hyde Park Drive. At 1828 hours Engines 17(Centralia,15(Airport), 3(Bensley),6(Enon); Trucks 3 (Bensley),14(Dutch Gap), Ambulance 17(Centralia), Bensley 528, Battalion Chiefs 1, 2, Chief 3, and the Tactical Safety officer responded to the fire.
The Tactical Safety Officer, first on scene reported heavy fire showing from one apartment and fire through the roof. Engine 1(Chester), who was on an EMS call close to the fire, cleared and was the first engine on scene. First line in service was a 2 1/2-hand line with straight tips. Three additional 1¾-hand lines were also put in service. Truck 14 (Dutch Gap) set-up on the delta side of the apartment and was put in service to attack the fire in the roof area.
There were no injuries to citizens or firefighters.
The Fire Marshal investigated the fire and found it to be cooking related.
Three apartments were damaged in the fire; one had heavy damage and two received major damage from smoke and water. Six occupants were displaced from the fire and were assisted by the Red Cross.
