On Nov. 27, 2006 the Mongomery County Board of Supevisors approved a new fire station for the Elliston, Shawsville, Lafayette & Ironto communities. The station will cost apprx. 1.66 million and be 16,000 sq. ft. The new building will have six bays two deep, meeting room, dining room, dispatch center, bunk rooms, offices, lounge, Dirty room and a room for turnout gear storage to prevent sun light from deteriorating the material. The garage will be heated by natural gas & Boiler heated water lines in the floor with zoned controls. 

 

Elliston FD covers 88 sqaure miles. Six miles of Intersate 81 and apprx. ten miles of US 11/460. Elliston responds to aprrx. 300 calls a year. This station is ten+ years in the making. The original station was built in 1957.
